"Meet the Team" is our blog series that introduces each of the Hafner Vineyard team members. We answer a series of questions about ourselves and our time at Hafner Vineyard. Eduardo Naranjo is our newest team member. He works in the vineyard and comes from the same town in Mexico as many of the others on the crew. He enjoys working at HV because of the people and the positive work environment. In his spare time, he works on cars and gardens.
Last month was bittersweet for us here at Hafner Vineyard. One of our longest tenured employees, José Luis Lopez, retired from Hafner Vineyard. We will miss his talents, his work ethic and his wonderful smile. I take great pride in the longevity of our employees, many of whom have worked with us for decades. As one of the owners of the business, I don’t think of them as someone who works for us, but rather someone who works with us. For me, it is all of us working together that makes Hafner Vineyard the family business that we are.

Fernando Onofre is a relatively new team member to the vineyard but is the third generation in his family to work at Hafner. His favorite time of the year is tying in the vineyard and enjoys being part of the team because they are constantly laughing and joking. In his "spare time" (which isn't much with three kids under the age of two), he enjoys detailing his car and exploring Sonoma County.
Spring is a beautiful time in the Wine Country in Sonoma County's Alexander Valley with vines entering their growth spurt and the hills still green from Winter’s generous rain. Here at Hafner Vineyard, it is a fun time for us, gathering with patrons for the Spring Barrel Tastings, which is one of the ways we say, “Thank you for your patronage” to members of the Annual Tasting Program (our wine club) and case buyers from the previous year.
Finding the perfect gift for newlyweds can be daunting. Selecting off a registry is an obvious and safe choice but sometimes we find ourselves wanting to give something unique, something thoughtful, something we love, and something that they can enjoy to kickoff the new life together. Recently we’ve noticed Hafner patrons have found their solution to the perfect wedding gift… the Annual Tasting Program (our wine club). Wines come throughout the year, right to the newlyweds’ doorstep. It’s fun for the gift giver to give and the newlyweds to receive, giving them the opportunity to think back to their wedding.
