Hafner Vineyard

Our Blog - The Press

Homage to Sommeliers

Los Angeles Restaurant KitchenLast week found me on my semi-annual trip to Los Angeles to work with wine directors and sommeliers. 3 days, 26 restaurants, 452 miles. What did I hear? Consistent praise about the quality of Hafner wine and appreciation for Parke’s winemaking philosophy which favors balance and finesse over power and punch. These wine buyers are scouting for wines that complement their chefs’ cuisine, rather than competing with it.  I also heard about the value Hafner wines offer. My favorite quote? “Hafner overdelivers quality for the price.”

A Day in Healdsburg

Healdsburg PlazaWhen we travel, we rely on recommendations of friends and family to send us to those out-of-the-way spots that make the trip more memorable. And when friends visit us, we love to send them to our favorite spots. Sarah Hafner wrote a blog about her favorite things to do in Healdsburg from the best place for a morning pastry to a must-see garden shop to her favorite Healdsburg restaurants.

A Day in Cloverdale

Alexander Valley CloverdalePatrons often ask what they should do when they visit Wine Country, so we like to share some of our favorite insider tips to the area - things that locals like to do. Cloverdale is my hometown - the northern most town in Sonoma County, located in the Alexander Valley wine appellation. With just over 8,800 residents, we have a bounty of activities - many restaurants, tasting rooms, fun shops, a very popular coffeehouse and nice stroll along the Russian River. Here is my itinerary for a day in Cloverdale.

Sonoma County's Sustainable Goals

Hafner Vineyard Alexander ValleyIn 2014, the Sonoma County Winegrowers set a goal of being the first county in the country to have 100% sustainably farmed vineyards. Since Day One at Hafner Vineyard, we have focused on minimizing our impact on the environment and farming our 100 acres with the intention of preserving the soil's health for future generations. We were excited that the Winegrowers had sparked this movement, so we joined them. Annually the Winegrowers publish a Sustainability Report detailing the county's progress. We are honored to be included... twice!

A Weekend in Bordeaux

Grace Hafner in BordeauxAs you may know, I moved to Bordeaux last September, and while I moved here to get my Masters, I really moved here for the food (and the wine). I’ve spent much of my time here exploring the different neighborhoods, basically eating and drinking my way through the city. My parents came to visit for a few days in July, and we tried a number of my favorites and even some places I hadn’t been! I’ve put together an itinerary of my favorite things to do in the city, but really, you can’t go wrong here.
