Vertical Collection of 2015 & 2017 Reserve Chardonnay (2 - 750ml)
This Vertical Collection shows the value of patient aging of our Reserve Chardonnays. We will be tasting these two vintages during the virtual tasting series "A Chef's Journey through Alexander Valley" focusing on Chardonnay on August 27th at 4:30pm PDT. You can register and learn more here. We will be joined by Chef Kyle Connaughton of Healdsburg's 3 Michelin star SingleThread as well as our neighbors at Robert Young Winery.
The 2015 Reserve Chardonnay is lovely with floral notes of jasmine and oranges along with a fruit aromas of Comice pear and pink grapefruit complemented by a flintiness. It is soft and supple on the palate with lemon cream and vanilla flavors.
In comparison, the 2017 Reserve Chardonnay is young and fruit-forward with aromas of pink grapefruit, lemon blossom and Charentais melon. Bright fruit notes on the entry, it has flavors of pear tart and sweet cream. The vanilla toastiness from barrel-fermentation and extended barrel-aging enhance its bouquet. Lovely now, the 2017 Reserve has the structure and excellent balance to allow it to age for at least three more years.
These two bottles are the perfect way to demonstrate the benefits of aging Hafner Reserve Chardonnays. Perhaps also a great gift to introduce family and friends to our Reserve.
