The most demanding judges of wine?

Chefs and wine buyers taste hundreds of wines every year when they select wines for their restaurants. And in leading California restaurants, those appraisals are even tougher. They demand that the wines they choose be excellent on their own, and excellent when paired with a wide range of cuisines. When top flight restaurants choose Hafner Vineyard wine, that is major recognition of the high quality of our wine. We are honored by that.

We look to California's premiere regional magazines and Zagat to tell us the top restaurants in California. Then we submit our wines to selected ones for their evaluation. Our wines' very high rate of acceptance by leading restaurants tells us that they judge Hafner Vineyard wines to be worthy of their wine lists.

Because many restaurants like to keep their wine list varied, they will include a wine for several months (often as wine-by-the-glass, too), then bring it back to the list later that same year. If you find a favorite restaurant on our list, ask them for a Hafner Vineyard wine even if it is not on the list. They often will have some in their cellars.

We also look to our patrons to tell us of their favorite restaurant, one they go to for very special occasions. Our patrons also tell us they keep our restaurant roster handy as a guide when they travel in California.
