A DELICIOUS UPBRINGING...
in La Jolla and Sebastopol
August 23, 2010
Growing up in San Diego, Lucas Martin regularly found wine on the family dinner table. Often it was wine from Hafner Vineyard in Alexander Valley....and has been for 25 years.
When he began cooking at San Francisco’s Hayes Street Grill, there was Hafner Chardonnay on its wine list, where it has been for over 20 years.
So naturally when he and his wife Karen prepared to open their very French-style K&L Bistro in the Sonoma County town of Sebastopol, Lucas called us. Could the wine of his youth and his professional life be on K&L Bistro’s wine list? Of course!
Now, a decade later, K&L Bistro is a well-established, regularly-crowded and highly-respected part of Sonoma County’s famed gourmet scene. Starting early to learn the part of managing a successful bistro are Karen and Lucas’ sons, Lucas and Jack. Frequent patrons are the boys' grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Jim Martin, visiting from their San Diego home.
There’s no doubt that Lucas (left) and Jack like “patronizing” their patents’ bistro.
